Need Encouragement?

Hi all.

I'm relatively new here (joined around June 12ish) and have 29 articles submitted, 28 accepted. I've sold one, a request - early on (I think it was day 2!) so that got me pumped. I've been responding to a lot of the requests and have also submitted some non-requests, but not many.

Sometimes I wonder if I'm just not writing up to snuff compared to some other authors, or if there is something wrong with my pieces. Then I think, if they got accepted, they should be good enough to sell....but then I go back to the "but they aren't selling." Sigh.

I know some people said it takes a month or two for them to start selling, but how many articles a month is that person writing? You'd think that with (almost) 30 articles in the list, I'd be selling SOME of them.

Thoughts?

PS I write as Rebecca MacLary

If it's any consolation, I've had an abysmal month! Like you, I've been writing to public requests, but have sold very few - in fact, I've only sold one out of the 16 I've written! I’m telling myself to just keep at it and things will turn around.

As you say, if your articles are accepted here, then they’re good enough – don’t doubt that.

Let’s hope July is a little kinder to us.

Good luck!

Jane

The trick to consistent sales is a large inventory of quality articles on a variety of topics. You are both doing well building up a great portfolio - just keep going and the sales will start rolling in. According to the stats 70% of what you get accepted will sell and the average article is worth $20 in the author's jeans. Remember the 30% that has not sold are still waiting for the right buyer. Also don't be afraid to do simple informative articles. My first sale was for usage rights on a short piece on how to use nutritional yeast. Not the most sexy topic, just something I decided to read up on about the time I started on CC.

jadedragon - thanks!

I'm so excited..I see that three of my articles are showing as "waiting"....I assume that means someone has placed the articles in their cart? And now I just need to wait for the sale to go through....

Yes waiting means some customer has them in their cart. Hope those turn it to sold!

Ok, this is a little off topic of the encouragement thread, but here's a question: how long are articles usually in the "wait" queue? I first noticed them last night, and it's been about 9 hours. Is that normal?

You may have to wait a little longer to see whether those articles are going to sell. I recently had one waiting for about two weeks. I emailed Supported in the end and they contacted the customer who released the article back into the fold. I've got another one in waiting so maybe I might be luckier this time.

If there's no conclusion after about a week, you might want to consider emailing support.

Good luck - hope they convert to sales.

Jane,

Thank you. I too am hoping they convert to sales. It would be nice to kick-start my sales with three at once!

I have only started to use this site despite having signed up last year. I have had problems with my computer and it is only now that I have decided that I need to write and make money online. I was wondering how long I'll have to wait before I know whether my articles will be pubished or not.

I hope to improve and gain new skills while I build my reputation as a writer. If any one can help it would be greatly appreciated thank you.
