Full Use but Still Credited

Post by DennyK »

I'm curious. I sold an article through CC, gave full rights and felt, feel great about it. I found the article published on a Web site and am curious that it was published with my CC id or byline. And I also find that I am registered at this site now. Nothing really in the profile and I have no login information, but am still filling a slot there.
When an article is bought for full rights, wouldn't the new owner then plaster their name on it?
Just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience.
BTW, I am somewhat flattered by this I guess.

Quite a few customers buy full rights and leave the byline which is nice. They like to get full rights for other reasons including exclusivity and the ability to edit the content, add links, etc...

Full rights means the buyer can do what he/she wants. Some want to post the article with their own name attached, some tweak, some publish as is, and leave your name on. I prefer the latter - it's nice to get the credit. However, if they pay my asking price, they can do what they want.

Also: your profile is for you to fill out as you please.
BTW - Congrats on the sale.

Thank you Celeste and C.R.
They did use the article in full with no changes and it appears to be a well done travel site.
I am okay with this.
Thanks again for your responses.

They probably just w anted your text to be exclusive to their site, so that would be why they bought full rights.
