A very smart man told me I needed to start a branded Facebook page. I've only had about an hour to work on it so far, but if 10 people "like" it I can get a vanity URL. Ever since I was a young girl I dreamed of having a vanity URL. :)

If you're interested, here's the ugly link: http://www.facebook.com/pages/10000-See ... 9605095005

Has anyone else started a FB page for his/her business? How'd that work out for you?

I have a Facebook fan page but find it's yet another distraction that I have little free time to play with and do justice to. I know I need to pay more attention to my blog, Twitter, and Facebook and eventually get a Google + thing going, plus whatever else pops up but it's getting tiring trying to keep up with all the social sites. Overload and lack of time have conspired to make me less effective at those earlier strategies that previously worked well for me such as Twitter and blogging... When was the last time I tweeted or blogged? Ages ago! Yikes! Yet, I'm busier than ever so I believe that non-social media strategies still pay. I want to do more with social media and I will, but I realize it's not necessarily the holy grail of marketing.

As a marketer and consumer, I see the value of Facebook fan pages on one hand but am also annoyed by constant intrusions from companies I've liked (even my super favs) on the other hand. When my favorite restaurant and TV shows drown out posts from my dearest friends and family members, I have a problem with that (as much as I love those restaurants and TV shows.) Probably more of a Facebook settings or algorithm thing, but it makes me hesitant to like companies and it reminds me of that fine line...
