Just wondering if anybody has sold any fiction or poetry through the site?
Thanks to all and wishing us all success!

Hi Penny,
Honestly...I don't know. Everything that I have written here has either been a true story or a subject based article. Surely someone has sold a fictional piece I would think.
If no one speaks up on this one, you may have to submit a few and test out the waters...there's a first time for everything.
Happy Post Halloween!

I think I've read a reply somewhere here before from CC that said fiction didn't sell quite as well. Maybe you could try the search function and see if it finds it.

It is from my personal experience that fiction and poetry don't sell because there are a lot of people trying their hand at fiction/poetry (A LOT), so magazines are in no short supply of free fiction that people are simply happy to have published. Well-known fiction/poetry writers can ask for a price for their work, but until established, it's sort of the fiction writer's fate to beg to be published. It is, after all, considered "art," whereas the other articles that sell on this site are sheer utility. Keep in mind also that when people search the internet, they are searching mostly for information--if they want to read fiction, they can go to other sources with fiction that has reliable appeal--ie, their favorite literary journal, The New Yorker, Harper's, or the library. Web site owners simply aren't going to purchase fiction because they are looking for articles that will draw the widest possible audience or articles that will appeal to their particular chosen audience.
If you'd like to publish fiction, I suggest trying to submit some fiction to online journals for free. Once you get a couple under your belt, you can use that as leverage to actually submit for pay.
That's my early-morning pedantic lecture on fiction writing.

Noticed today that someone has sold a short story (well done to whoever it is!), so maybe there's hope for fiction after all!

That's wonderful. I'll have to give it a try and see what happens.
Thanks.

I've been selling fiction & poetry for many years and while I don't make much money, I do get paid for my work. You can check
www.google.com type in fiction or if you want poetry paying markets and you'll find a lot of them. Also check
www.ralan.com and
www.fictionfactor.com That should keep you busy quite a while. Hope that helps.

Hi
sorry it has been a while since this question was asked. I have sold two fiction pieces here which were specifically requested for a lingerie site. So that may have helped, but fiction opportunities do come up now and again.
