Punctuation Question

When you have a list with a name followed by a "-" and then list their occupation do you put a period at the end of it or not?

Example:

John Doe - artist.
OR John Doe - artist

What if they have several occupations such as: artist, author, and cook

We prefer that lists are not used as the bulk of an article. even when the context of the article requires it to be in list format, we prefer articles to contain complete sentences.

More like, "John Doe, an artist who painted between the years 1567 and 1599, is significant because he specialized in dog portraiture."

Lists need to be useful to the reader and give enough information so that they become so.

What if the list is for a request?

I wanted to keep it down in "word size" and mostly mention names and occupations only. The list is the bulk of the article, but I could do it with small complete sentences still, or not?

This has been more trouble than it's worth & I should just let it go, but I would like to get it approved and sold.

The requester did not specifically ask for a list, so the article must still comply with these guidelines. If the list isn't useful to those reading it, we can't accept it.

One problem with lists is that anyone can write one. We're writers and our skill level is more sophisticated.
