anyone live near or on a bayou (in I guess it should be)? If not how about a small fishing village? Either way I'm looking for both. Know much about sharks, alligators or crocs? Thank you so much.

There's a great book you may want to get a hold of called A Social History of the American Alligator by Vaughn L. Glasgow. It's very cool and will give you all sorts of details to work with. Also, there was a movie made in the eighties about Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings--I think her name was--called Cross Creek. It was about how she moved to the Bayou and wrote about life there. It's worth watching for sort of a visual reference. Otherwise, if it were me, I'd go to the library and get everything I could about bayous--histories, botanical guides, wildlife, etc... and imerse myself in it for about a month. The details will soak in and hopefully come out naturally in your work. I don't no why, but like a kid, I am fascinated with sharks. Another book that is very good is called Close to Shore about the first US shark attacks--the Great White (or Bull shark) that swam up Matowan Creek in New Jersey. Hope that helps. Good luck. It sounds like a fun project. --J

I don't live next to the bayou but it isn't too far away. Though about 10 minutes from here I'm surrounded by swamp and trees covered in spanish moss. Lol, guess that explains how I got the nickname "swamp girl" from one of my friends.
