Shocked! "Interesting hot shemale action link"

Post by janewinstead »

I was shocked when I checked out a new post in the "General" category forum. titled "Interesting hot shemale action link." Is this really an appropriate post for this site? For a minute I thought I had gotten on a porn site by mistake and quickly exited. Then I checked again and sure enough it is on this forum.

Comments please.

Jane,

Almost daily sometimes -- people sign up for the forum with the sole purpose to spam it. They (CC moderators) usually catch them rather quickly, but until a moderator see's it; it will remain here. I am sure as soon as one of them checks the forum it will be gone.

I know they check the forums all the time, but is there any way to add a button/link for readers to flag a comment as spam...? Just a thought.

We always catch the spammers within a few hours; we don't need their posts flagged.

We just aren't awake 24 hours a day.

The best thing to do is just not click on them. It's usually pretty obvious when a post isn't CC related.

Thanks,
Ed

YES Ed, most of them are obvious. I understand -- even the hard-working editors need sleep every so often!

Thanks. I guess I should have paid more attention the title. Next time I'll be a little more careful. If the spammer wanted to give someone a shock they certainly succeeded. Thanks for all your hard work and you are appreciated.

Actually, it's one of the first things I check when I wake up in the morning - I hate the spammers just as much as you guys do. I don't know why they think this is a good place to post their ads!

I probably delete at least a dozen spam messages a day, so we're definitely keeping on top of them. Just don't click on anything suspicious, and we'll get rid of it.

This thread me laugh. I hate to admit it, but sometimes my curiosity gets the best of me and I have to take a sneak peek at what the spammer's selling today. Usually I know exactly what I'm clicking on, but what the hey it's worth a chuckle. I hope I'm not encouraging them... I'm just indulging my warped sense of humor once in a while.

Don't worry Ed, it's nothing personal when it comes to spamming.

I run my own small forum and it annoys me too when they go through all the hassle of signing up (I don't make it easy!) and then posting their wares.

They do it because it creates backlinks to their sites and makes the search engines believe they are popular in order to get good ratings. When I ban a spammer in my forum, I make sure I clear out the links to their sites in their profile too, because I don't want the google (or whoever) bots trawling my forum and finding any links to porn sites!

I also ban their IP addresses too, but it only slows them down a bit - it won't stop them!

I would like to have the power to do this, but we can only remove their comments.
