For tax purposes, can someone please answer this question?
Are CC payments "royalties" or "non-employee compensation"? I do not get a 1099 from them so I can't be sure. I know we write the articles, clients by them for different rights, and then CC pays us. Is that royalties like you get from books or is it non-employee compensation for an independent contractor?
Maybe CC can tell us how they report it in Canada?
Any help, please?

We are independent contractors.

What Judith said. All you have to do is add it as 1099 income and have the employer's EIN although I am not sure how you do it with no EIN since they are in Canada. I report another company's income as 1099 with the EIN and 2 years later the IRS hasn't harassed me.
