I've been absent from Constant Content for a while now. I only recently started resubmitting, and so far I have to say that the turn-around times are outstanding. I also commend how the editors are adding notes to rejected articles. You guys are awesome. I was discouraged in previous years.
For the first time today I got this message:
"Unfortunately, we can no longer consider this article for approval. Please do not resubmit."
The article in question was about a man's perspective in a sexless marriage. In the last year alone I've read over 20 articles about the subject, only from a woman's perspective. If I've seen that many then there are probably hundreds to thousands floating around.
Some may argue that the articles are opinion based or editorial-style, but I would argue that most articles about relationships and marriage are both of those. If nothing else they're selling. I understand that there has to be some line in the sand, but isn't making money part of the equation? Sure, I could have gone on to cite studies and papers on the subject, but that would have just been an exercise in adding words.
I'm not wanting to resubmit, I'll just submit directly to some submission calls for similar articles. I was just looking for Constant-Content editor perspectives. Before I submitted this article here I sent it to a friend who is a writing and editing teacher.

Re: General Questions About Rejections
I had an editor doing this to me from Jan-March. It was frustrating. I held off submitting for a while because of it and then submitted the stuff later and I guess another editor thought it was ok.
I would just review it for errors to make sure you find what it is that's wrong with it and hold on to it for a few months.
I don't know if it's new editors or internal ones or what. It's confusing because that type of stuff generally stopped years ago.

I think I just won't be posting to relationships anymore. I'm two for two on rejections there this morning. Eric and the others are missing out on money.
I guess I'll try out some others. The editor for computer articles is fast.
Now that I know blowjob is a dirty word here, what are some of the others? Are fellatio and/or oral as well?

Moving into a different section is definitely an option. I do that too. I only do this as side money, so I'll often just stop submitting for a time or submit in a different category.
Tech is never on those popular topics lists unfortunately.

I'm certainly no prude, and have written plenty of stuff I wouldn't want my mother to read, but I tend to stay away from these topics now. Too much of a minefield - what's frank and open to one person is totally offensive to another, especially across different national cultures. For me, time's much better spent in other subject areas

Re: General Questions About Rejections
I try to write across several areas. I've even managed to sell some satire, humor, political rants, movie/product reviews, how-to, and even poetry. I was amazed at how many times my 10 Reasons to Savor Being Single, and Flirting Tips for Gay Men has sold for usage. The latter I wrote on a dare. My recent Pokemon Go article went pretty quick too. I like a broad array of topics. Computers is still my strongest subject though. I need to start covering everything again with an emphasis on Windows 8.1 and 10. I just wish there was another site like this one that'll accept a wider array of subject matter. Sex is an example. (I'm not talking porn or vulgar either, but talking about what was taboo even a decade ago.) Sex sells. Satire and humor combined with it sells. Political humor and satire sells, especially in election years. Political commentary makes money too.

Re: General Questions About Rejections
A couple days ago an article about "Bondage 101" showed up in the recent sales list. So I guess the editors must let stuff like that through sometimes, or at least they did at some point.
