Rose colored glasses?

Post by Dorothy Edison »

Sure, it's 4 am and my perspective may be colored a little by the glasses of red wine I had at dinner (haha--Dorothy Edison doesn't drink, but *I* do . . . occasionally :) ), but frankly some of the posts here are getting me down.

People who write for a living know that the editor has final say, and that you can't, when your article doesn't get published, complain to him or her about it. (Well, you can, but that doesn't get you anywhere). And payment doesn't always come right away. The internet writing world is little different, unless you're writing for "Slate."

Constant Content is the friendliest outlet I have *ever* found for my writing. I didn't even have to send a clip to get approval, and like me, all are welcome. Chris and our Article Admin are happy to work with us, answer questions, and post our work--which is MUCH more than I've found elsewhere.

Of course things are going to go wrong, but the kinks are being worked out. Of course the editors have the right to protect themselves, their customers, and the copy rights of other authors. They are doing all of us a service just by maintaining a site of this nature.

This is, too, the first time I have ever been paid for my writing. After years of writing for free just to get published, this is a breath of fresh air.

I don't know what anyone else's writing story is--their history with it, their internal battles with it, their success or failure at it--but CC really treats all content as valuable, and that has really lifted some of my personal cynicism regarding writing. (Insert dramatic gesture here.)

It seems to me that the less patient posters maybe don't read through the comments looking for an answer anyway, and I know this will gradually get pushed to the bottom, so I'm probably just preaching to the choir.

But anyone who stumbles in, if you're new or looking for an answer to your questions: you really will be taken care of fairly and with respect . . . but offer some of the same in return!

Hey Chris,

If I were you, I would make this a sticky. Dorothy is cool, don't you think? :)

I think it should be a sticky too! It's true. C-C is the best place on the net.
