How long?

Post by Caterina »

This might seem like a silly question. I know it is, but how long does an article usually take to sell on constant content? I am new here and have submitted 2 articles so far. I am just curious how long it usually takes to sell one and what topics are the best to write on?

It really varies. There is no cut and dried rule. It just depends on which customers are on the site looking for which topics. The articles that usually sell the fastest are the ones written for requests. In my experience finance topics sell the fastest, but that's just for me.

Nic is right - it really does vary. Several of my first articles ever submitted here sold right away while others from that same time period have never moved. The first one was about the Google Starter Pack - it sold for usage two times. Another was about keepsake ultrasounds. Meanwhile another one from that same era about eating for two while pregnant is still waiting for a home. So, who knows? Each of these were articles I chose to write on my own in the first few weeks of CC membership. I got hooked when a simple movie review that took me about five minutes to write sold for $20. It paid for my movie tickets and then some!

For me, computer/software/tech articles have been good as have travel, real estate, and finance.

Writing for specific requests provides you with the most bang for your buck and exposes you to paying customers with a current need. Even writing to requests can take a while before the sale is final but I find sales happen easier when a customer is saying, "Here's what I want."

Keep submitting - one or two articles posted on a whim won't yield you the same results as submitting several targeted articles per week. Good luck and welcome!

Thanks guys! I can't wait to get started.

I have noticed that realestate/finance articles seem to be big, but that isn't really my area of expertise. I'm sure I'll find something that works though.

how long have you all been writing here?
