Dear Ed,

I have an article that has been sitting around in the queue for about 6 days, give or take. I was wondering if you haven't gotten to it yet because it is so long. (1250 words)

Celeste is correct. Ed's doing his best. I am sure he isn't quite up to steam yet- at least I wouldn't be after the flu. It might make you feel better to know that you aren't alone. I have a long one in since the last day of January as well. It is one of those that will not sell for awhile yet, so it isn't going to be a priority. Ed likes to approve the private, public, popular, and then whatever is left ( sorry for assuming here Ed, but I am pretty sure that you have suggested most of this in the past.) It is tough to be patient when things are slow- that's why I busy myself with outside work. WG
BTW- Ed, glad you are feeling better. Props!

PS- Ed does usually follow the process of first in as well, but hey, he's been sick. Dodging the colds and flus circulating near me at the moment.

I'm sorry, but I do not have the energy nor the stamina to read through longer articles right now. I have had fever, chills, aches (you name it) for almost a week. I am getting through the articles under review as best I can.

AB, Please do not ask that articles be considered for the premium category. I consider all articles of a certain length and depth but can't have authors asking me to specifically consider their articles. Thanks.

Hope you feel better soon Ed! If it eases your misery, I was throwing up two to five times between July and this past December. My last bout was on Christmas Eve. I've discovered that morning sickness is not terribly different from the flu--only it lasts much longer.

In any case, your illness may inspire me to write something about folk remedies for flu symptoms

Oops--that was between two to five times per day. Ugh is right. Hang in there--what doesn't kill you makes you stronger; isn't that the saying!

Get better soon. I'll try not to submit any epic articles for you...at least til you're over the worst!

Re: the request for premium consideration, in the earlier forum discussions of premium articles, we had talked about how some were writing with this section in mind. Constant had commented that this section was not intended for this purpose, but he could see that it wouldn't hurt anything if authors wanted to aim for it. Nobody said not to put that in the short summary.

Sorry, I didn't know. But I won't do it again.

Thanks. I didn't mean to be a crab about it, but do want you (and anyone else reading) to understand why it's best not to ask for articles to be placed categorized as premium.

If authors start doing this (and others see it, starting a chain reaction), then we also have a lot of authors asking for explanation about why their articles weren't chosen. I'm not prepared to handle that influx of questioning, disappointment, and demands for specific reasons. It is very important that articles getting marked as premium remain just one of CC's extra perks and not something that becomes expected.

Ed, I understand your thinking. I don't think it will be a problem just yet because I haven't seen those premium articles moving to sold. I also know that if I did get rejected or not chosen for that category, I would not have expected an explanation. I only work on those longer articles once in a while and I was not hoping for any kind of preference. I hope none of the other writers thought I was.

Those that know my work here know that I have a lot of articles, but I am not a big seller. Quite frankly, there is nothing to be jealous of because I can't survive on what I make here. I've also mentioned before that I have not had private requests. So far any money I've made has been entirely on spec. Maybe that affects how I view things around here. I guess aiming for premium is not a bad thing. I will keep that in my own mind and let the chips fall where they may on the editing side.

As you know, Ed, I think you are an amazing person to work with.

I love this site and it is now my hobby. I finally got a chance to rejoin the fully employed world.

I wouldn't worry about other writers thinking you were looking for special treatment, Audra. It didn't sound that way to me.

Shoot, I'd be tempted to say "written with premium content in mind" or something like that too as a prelude to let Ed know that I thought a particular article might have special merit. But - Ed's right and I know he'll nab some terrific articles for that section whether or not someone wrote with premium content in mind.

Premium hasn't caught on yet but I sure hope it does! When it does, you'll be in a terrific position.
