I like this reason the best: "The reason plagiarism is worse than theft is because the only real remedies for it are shame and ostracism . . . "

Jack Schafer may be preaching to the choir. Those who plagiarize see nothing wrong with it and think those who take offense too sensitive or too serious. I'm not sure this article will change any minds, but it's a good read for those who have experienced plagiarism.
