March Madness

Post by Elizabeth Ann West »

Hi all,

I know I have been quiet for awhile. I've had my hands full with a 7 year old spring breaker!

So, since there is just about 1 week of March left, I thought now would be a good time to reassess all of our goals.

I will be glad to go first, since well, I started the March Motivation post earlier.

Let's see, I have been VERY side tracked this month. I am no where close to $1,000 in articles available, I need about $500 more. This sounds good, but I had $400 listed before I made my goal. :?

Website did not make the March 15th. I currently have something up better than what I had before, about 70% of the page is operational, but two sections are still missing. Now, I realize I have to start over, because the geeks who make the Internet do not make CSS operate the same in IE and Firefox.

But I DO have a book, and I AM learning. So, I am getting better at programming web pages, but after I finish mine, I doubt I will want to do another ever again!

Business cards were a no-go. I have them, I have yet to print them. Mainly because I am waiting on finishing my website, so I can coordinate the logos. Of course, that was when I was going to pay someone to print them. But, now that I realize that is just an excuse, since I am now going to print them at home, I can just make a handful plain. I did though make 3 new contacts through my flights last week taking my stepson back home.

Don't worry, I'm not discouraged. I am simply going to revamp, and reassess myself this week, and try to finish my quarter as strong as I can. Plus, once this month is over, I get to start brand new in April on a new quarter!

Elizabeth, sounds like you've made progress even if it wasn't what you planned. Carry on to April! And there's one more week in March!

Let's see - I wanted to post another $130 worth of articles. I haven't done it (heck, haven't done anything, letting houseguests from March 4-24 be an excuse), but I just got a private request that is due in a week that will cover that goal.

The second one - post 9 more articles for a total of 20 articles available for sale - I really haven't touched. I'll just see what I can do this week.

Well I feel a little better after reading that you two did not cross off every item on your list. Because I didn't, and I had a very simple list. My goal was to put one foot in front of the other, and I did that very well until I stopped.
And that was largely due to an annoying off again on again flu, dizzy headache every couple days. So, I'm in a seriously cramped up cabin feverish mode.
But ready to get back to work. I hope.

I'm doing fine so far. Keeping my commitment to no nights/weekend (only minor breaches), maintaining the quota.... but haven't managed to work on my novel. Dragging feet.

I have had a strange March. It's been an interesting month for sure. My old boss wants me to do some consulting on his new venture but I'm not sure he'll be able to afford the new me. Got a couple of new outside clients and had an old private request (from October or November) finally go through after months and months. Also, I finally got a check for two articles I wrote for a print magazine 6 months ago. That was a bonus as I had practically forgotten about them.

Anyhow, keep making goals and working toward them! Anything is possible if you put your mind to it.

I think just the fact that we made March goals (thanks Elizabeth!) was a great start, even if we did not reach them all.

I'm going to just pretend today is the last day of March so I can say that I submitted 5 articles (out of the 9 I wanted to) and the equivalent of $150 full rights (goal was $130). So I'm not unhappy about that.

Now it's time to start thinking about April! I'm going to go big and say I'll submit $500 in April (not counting the stuff I snuck in today).
