Ed, a small doubt
Hi,
I thought Ed, that there is an editor team posting as Ed. Is that so, or are you a single person? I don't think u are a single person, editing hundreds or even thousands of authors each day (and actually spotting minutest errors), posting and answering instantly in forums, and doing much more other work. But all of your forum posts have a uniqueness, a personality, which makes me think that one person posts them (in one recent post I passed by, you said you are away and the reviews would take a little while due to slowness of connection). what are you, Ed, a superhuman?

No, I'm a normal human. Submissions tend to ebb and flow, so some days are really busy and other days are rather easy in comparison. Reviewing articles is usually what I start my day with, which means that I can accomplish something as soon as I wake up. This is a good feeling.
I've been at CC for awhile, so I guess I have a particular process. And every day is something of an informational adventure, so I look forward to reviewing articles. I do miss errors sometimes, but the authors are quick to correct me, and sometimes my answers to questions aren't as knowledgeable as the authors'.
So yes, it's just me. That's why sometimes it's obvious when I haven't gotten enough sleep or have been wading through spam submissions.

that's cool. really, Ed. Still, the things you do in a day's time knocks me off. You edit all content (there are 15000 authors in CC and one cool editor!) anyway, you might be getting more than hundreds of submission on a day. I guess you are as prompt in other submissions as you are in mine. Also, you write on blogs regularly, answers forum posts. This is just awesome.
For one thing, I guess hundred submissions a day means 50000 words at average 500 words per article. But most of the time it is more than 100,000 words, I estimate (even 100 submissions from 12000 authors is a minimum). Longer than a novel for sure. Do you do speed reading or something for this? still it will take more than a day to read that much, no? You may be the most hard working person in the whole world then. I would also love to hear what other authors speak about you, Ed.

Err . . . that number is a little bit inflated. Not all authors submit at once. Some leave or take a break and come back later. Other authors sign up, submit a couple of articles, and then forget about CC altogether.
I don't read every article. Articles can be rejected early for incorrect submission or too many errors in the first few sentences.

Mmm, cool, Ed. I didn't think that. I should have known since I myself abandoned CC for a while after first signing up, while I was working for Accenture. Now that I am active here, I referred a few authors and they seem to have signed up and disappeared altogether. It is very odd that tooo few people actually understand the worth of CC.

Bite your tongue!!! From an author's point of view...well, call me "grouchy," but the fewer authors writing for the same requests, the more opportunity you have to sell your wares! O sure--it's nice to have new writers stick with it, work out, and add to the site's value...but it can be too much saturation with every college kid and their mother testing out their authorial (is that even a word?) skills here...(that's not to say that there aren't some really good college-age writers here...and moms too!)
Ed--with everything you must have learned reading these articles...you'd be a great contestant for Jeopardy! I know I feel smarter just based on the articles I've written--I'm always being surprised by what I've learned...which I guess is why I love this venue so much!
Speaking of Mom...a week from today unless she comes sooner! Consequently, not able to keep Ed hopping with my submissions:(
Well, sooner or later I'll get back into gear!
