Motivated May

Post by Elizabeth Ann West »

Goals Girl is back! :) Since the site is in various states of down, why not use the time to map out our months of May?

Here's my May map of success:

* Due to new writing projects, articles for CC were sadly neglected in a dusty document folder. Therefore, I will be dedicating the second week of May to CC submissions and public requests primarily (it was going to be the first week, but other project STILL aren't completed, and conveniently the site is cooperating wonderfully with my procrastination.)

*I must finish in the first 2 days my lesson plan project. The problem right now is creeping perfectionism, as I have it at 75%, but I just had a breakthrough in the battle against my own worst enemy. Notecards! This way I am writing lesson plans on one side, and once I have the number I need, I will assign them to appropriate chapters.

*April was the month to finish my personal website, May is the month to add on! I want to add a new section to my writing website to help other aspiring writers out there.

Overall, I think I am doing really well on investing appropriate amounts of time in direct income producing activities, and time in more fun and creative activities (like my website and blog) that are not directly income producing. The year is in a new quarter, and I am happy with the direction I am going in. It's wonderful to tell my husband "I'm working tomorrow," and he now acknowledges and fully understands this isn't just a hobby for me anymore. :) Plus, he's helping me a great deal with logistical things, like servers and helping me find more efficient ways to advertise.

So how are you all feeling out there? Why not take this moment to take a breath and look at how far we have all come this year so far, and squeal with delight over the mountains we have yet to begin climbing. You never know, the views up there might be really cool! 8)

Ok, I'll play. My goals for May:
Complete the big training manual by May 10th (sorry Ed, it's gonna be 40-50K words)
Continue maintaining my daily writing budget
Form a "web content writers'" critique group (any interest anyone?)
With summer vacation coming in June, I must make the most of May! Had a tough time in April with 2 weeks of spring break and a houseful of sick family members (myself included). It's a wonder I accomplished anything at all last month but I did okay.
