Will this be rejected?

Post by mariposa »

Will an article that addresses the reader as "you" be automatically rejected?

Example: "You'll drive less, you'll save on gas, and your car will last much longer."

Hi! If you read some of the articles others have submitted you will see "you" used very frequently.

Good luck!

I use it all the time. It's easier to address your readers that way, especially if it's a tutorial or instructions.

You will find a lot of online content which is often more like a lecture given by a professor. The good ones will address their students in this manner. Basically, the people of today want to feel that the writer is writing directly to them. While not always the case, and it depends on your subject, it's a good idea to use it in some of your writing.

Yes, I definitely think the use of "you" helps to show that the information provided is relevant to the reader.
