Articles Rejected?

how long does it normally take for a submitted article to be accepted or rejected?

It does vary a lot, depending on the length of the queue. I've sometimes waited a couple of days, other times a couple of hours. Ed gives priority to work submitted for requests, then I believe it is first come first served. he has also mentioned here that he sometimes puts a piece to the back of the queue to return to if he needs to give it some thinking time before making a decision.
