Newbie and Question on assignments

Hi Everyone!

I am a new writer and wanted to be sure I understand the process. If I see a project on the client request section and it lists a price - do I go ahead and write the article and submit and then find out what the final payout is? Also, what if I am writing something while some other write is writing for that same client, how does that work?

Hi Lisa,

You submit the article and check the box that says "private request." (I think that's what it says...it's late and I'm so tired lol) Choose the request name from the listbox that appears.

The customer gets a bunch of articles, he chooses, and if yours isn't chosen it goes in the general pool. I hope I got all that. Normally, I'm all long winded and wordy, but it's 2am here. lol I hope it covers it for ya though.

If someone buys your stuff, there is a section in your account overview that tells you what you've earned for the month.

Hi Lisa,

Even if the client has listed a price, you still fill out the price you want to sell your article for. So, say the client put $10-20 as their desired price, you could list $15 or $20 or whatever. When you're pricing your article, think about what you would be happy earning, not just what the client is willing to pay. You will always earn 65% of your selling price regardless of whether it's a public request or an article you wrote on spec. Hope this helps!

Lisa, As you alluded to there may well be other people working on the same request. But if you submit your article and it doesn't get chosen it will be made available to everyone on the site after three days. Which does bring me to one friendly reminder, that even when you are submitting an article to a request it is still important to choose an appropriate category and fill in a reasonable keyword list so that other customers will have a good chance of finding your article, if the original requester decides against purchasing it.

Thanks so much everyone! So basically, you are not guaranteed to be paid on anything and there is a chance you wont be paid on something right? Just making sure, because I think I misunderstood the site. I freelance for another writing site where you select an assignment and must finish all the articles requested by a deadline and you are the only one working on it. You get paid upon approval or do an edit. I thought this was the same.

Are you by chance talking about Demand Studios? I write for them too when I want some guaranteed cash. This is completely different--unless you get a private request, you're always writing on spec. However, the rewards are potentially much greater.
