Making offers.

Hey guys. When do you allow people to make offers on your articles? I've no idea as to whether i should let people offer or not.
What are the pros & cons of doing so?

I don't use it as I feel my prices are fair where they are. I've heard a lot of writers on the forum talk about their lowball offers though I'm sure there must be some reasonable offers here and there. For me, I'm not interested in haggling and "lookie loos" who make an offer just to see if you'll take it.

I started blocking offers. The offers are usually very low. I've accepted a few on some really old articles, but now if an article sits, I'll delete it and upload it to AC or Suite101.

Do you get paid on AC or suite?

CC seems to be one of the highest paying markets out there for writers to sell their articles...although I could be wrong, it's been the most profitable for me per word.

The other day I got an offer of $5 for a 2,000 word article. I did not accept it.

Do you get paid on AC or suite?

AC and Suite have different models, but I like them both for different reasons, and yes, I do get paid. Suite101 takes a lot of time and a lot of people think it's a waste of time. At first, I thought the same, but I'm starting to get a decent monthly check. The average is about $1/article/month, which is where I'm at. People who already make a decent living writing elsewhere don't like the Suite model at all. I don't blame them either. It's not a place where you're going to pay your mortgage unless you've been there for a couple of years and have a large output volume. AC pays an upfront fee, but the residual income is much less. I think it evens out, though. I like AC because I can write about fun things and get $4 upfront with some pennies trailing in. If it's something that isn't going to sell here, then at least I recover some revenue at these places.

I keep the subject matter I do for Suite and CC different. What will work well at Suite or AC won't really sell on CC, so it works out. I finally tried out AC about 2-3 months ago, and it's neat. Suite is more money, but AC is cool for news stories.

I also tried Examiner, but Examiner got the boot from Google News and they are horrible. They aren't saying why they got the boot, but after mingling on Google's webmaster forums for so long, I know that Google doesn't let you just throw crap out at them and let you stay. Google is pretty picky, actually. My guess is that the only way they will be let back into Google's good graces is to put an editor in between the Examiner writers and the news feed. AC does this and I believe they got the boot for a while too.
