Transplanted New Yorker Living in the South

Hi all! I joined Constant Content this past week. I've posted two articles so far, one came back because my font was wrong. I'm still waiting to hear about the other.

I'm nervous about resubmitting article number one, because when I went back and checked it was indeed saved in the proper font (TNR 12). I originally wrote the article in Open Office, so I'm wondering if there is some sort of glitch related to that.

In any case, I have other articles waiting to go, and I'm really excited at the prospect of placing articles with CC. I write for another site as well, and the voice I have to use there is very constricted. I also have to write the titles they give me, which is not a bad thing, but many of them are ungrammatical. Very embarrassing! So I use a different pen name there. That said, in many ways, it's a good site, but it makes me nervous as a cat to devote myself to them exclusively.

I can't advise you about the tech stuff, but welcome to CC and good luck! Lots of info in the forums so any question you have can be answered here.

Welcome to the South! As a fellow newbie (3 months old) my advice is to take it a wee bit slow until you and Ed get the hang of each other. Before you blow Ed away with exuberance, get a few acceptances under your belt. That way you can find out what areas you need to pay attention to so that you don't repeat any errors.

Hello from a transplanted Southerner living in NY. Where in the South did you end up? I'm from Alabama, sweet home *sigh*.

Anyway, I've just started submitting articles in openoffice. I haven't had any problems getting them approved. Just remember to "save as" in .doc before you start your document, or you might forget. I've also found it invaluable to read my article out loud to myself before I submit. I have caught many a mistake that way.

Also, Celeste Stewart and Haleywriter both have ebooks for sale that are geared for the newbie. If you plan on spending a lot of time on CC, it might behoove you to check them out.
