Hello to all...

Post by DanniBee »

Hi!

I'm Danni, and I'm new not only to CC, but to freelance writing.

I'm not a complete stranger to writing - I have a go at creative writing as a hobby, I run a small company/interest specific magazine for work, and write content for their website. Somewhat different from making a viable endeavor through the pen, however. I'm absolutely terrified I'm about to make a complete fool of myself! Ah well, I guess I'll either succeed or give a few people a good bellylaugh on the way through.

Looking forward to chatting to you all, and most likely hitting up those who are willing for advice. :D

Welcome DanniBee and best of luck. Everyone has to start somewhere and this is a good place if you can write grammatical and correctly spelt English. Just make sure you read the advice in the forums as well as make sure you understand the guidelines, and then submit your carefully proofed articles.

Isn't that what pen names are for? :D

Welcome DanniBee.

4Rumid, I used to love the idea of hiding behind my pen name - but watch out! All of a sudden your other persona becomes just as important as your main one. Anyhow, it's freeing for the most part. I would have never submitted some of my articles as me, but didn't hesitate as Celeste. I'm grateful for that original decision to use a pen name.

You're so right. When I first signed up here, I used a pen name because I was planning to write quick-and-dirty articles on probably trivial topics. But the first articles I ended up writing were on important medical issues and I worked very hard to make them informative and good. And since then, except maybe for a couple of request topics, I've found I'm working as hard as I would if I were using my real name.

I'm proud of most of my writing, but this is defeating my purpose! My plan to crank out articles has been sidelined by this silly need to write the best articles I can. Which means I'm producing way too little, and having trouble letting the articles go at low rates. If I could just remember that no one's judging me (apart from the approval process), or even knows who I am, I could produce and sell so much more!

My goal for my next article is to just get it down on paper (screen, whatever), make sure it's basically organized and doesn't have any mistakes, and just let it go! Wish me luck . . .
