Public Request Submissions and Timing

Post by LaLa »

When do you deem a public request too old to submit for?

There are a few times that I've begun writing articles for a public request. However, I've either become distracted before completing them or have wanted to let them breathe a little before submitting. If a few days or more have passed since the request I then assume that it's too late. I still submit them, just not for a public request. I'm wondering at what point do you all consider an article too old to submit for the same.

If the request is still open, I'd go ahead and submit the article to it. After all, the customer could still need it. It'll remain exclusive to that customer for three days, but in the grand scheme of things, that should be fine.

As far as too old, I don't know. It really depends on the topic. If it's interesting, I might write it anyway just for fun. If it's super specialized and at a good price and if it doesn't look like anyone's tackled it, I might do it despite its age. This is where it's good to keep an eye on the recently sold list. Also, browse the category to see if it looks like lots of writers submitted articles to no avail. Also, you'll start to see the same customers coming back every so often with new requests. The regulars need content all the time, so if the request is old, but the customer is a regular, consider that too.

I'm so glad that I asked this question, because I'd never spotted the "Request Status" field. Here I am assuming that I'm too late and realizing that this isn't the case at all. Wow! Thanks so much for bringing this to my attention, Celeste!
