Hi there,
I'd like to write some in-depth articles which require research, and also citation. I know how to cite web sources in APA style at the bottom of a piece, but can you give me any info about/examples of the way Ed likes to see references given credit within the body of an article? Also, can someone validate my understanding that references are needed for specific information like data, stats, little-known facts, and quotes? As I understand it, citations are not needed for more general information.
Oh, and one more thing: does Ed prefer certain types of sources, such as .edu and .gov? I know Wikipedia is out of the question!
Many thanks!
Missy

Re: Citations
I usually approach it this way:
"Rainfall in August was 2.4% higher than average, according to rainfall.com...."
"90% of professional clowns will never develop liver disease, say experts at Clown Central in Kentucky."
"According to Missy, a successful writer at CC...."
I try to be as specific as possible, without making the writing unwieldy. For example, I won't cite the exact webpage if the info is easily found by visiting the parent site. And I've had no trouble citing sources by first name only, if it's an informal piece. (By that I mean the articles aren't rejected )

Re: Citations
Thank you, Antonia! I appreciate the help. I really want to start doing a little more research, and I want to cite right (without getting rejected!)
