can foreign-language words cause rejection?

Post by kristenmacneal »

I recently submitted an article called "Is Jihad an Integral Part of Islam?" The article was immediately rejected with the message, "We do not consider content with links, spelling errors, or extraneous/unproofread text." There were no links in my article, and I both wrote and proofread it carefully. I did not find any spelling errors, so the only thing I could figure out was that some of the Arabic/Islamic terms in the article were considered "misspelled." I did italicize foreign words, but this does not seem to show up when I paste the title and excerpt into the submission form. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Kristen

I don't think they would reject an article for foreign words if the words were used in proper context. Real humans read the text, not automated software, so they would understand the context of the words. Since the editor specifically mentioned spelling and unproofread text, there's probably a typo or something that your eye is glossing over (it happens). Try reading the article backwards or turning on your computer's narrator voice. Also, some "links" linger in a document. I'll see if I can find another thread discussing how to remove "hidden" links.

Edited to add:
Here are two threads discussing hidden links and how to get rid of them:
