Are my articles good enough?

Post by ThinkingBreak »

I have a few articles that I would like to submit to cc. I would be very grateful to get your opinions. Are my articles good enough for posting? What are the problems with the articles? The full articles are around 500 words each, but I'm going to post only a part of the text here.

Thank you for your help.

ThinkingBreak, it's never a good idea to post even part of the text of an article in the forums. Google indexes these pages and you wouldn't be able to offer full rights to the articles to potential buyers. I'm going to delete the text so it doesn't get indexed, but here are my comments for you:

Properly capitalize titles.

Brush up a little on your commas. For instance, there should be one after "In fact" and should not be one after "minor needs". You'll get rejections for comma errors, so very carefully edit for those.

Overall your writing is quite good but a little wordy. Try going back over sentences and removing clauses and extra words that make the sentences long. Read your work out loud to spot places to trim.

In your second article, you write, "we all have experienced". At C-C, you're not allowed to put yourself in the article (first person I or we). Restructure your articles to remove all first person commentary.

In your second article, carefully proofread the sentence starting with "With this breakup". There's a missing word or maybe too many words, but it somehow doesn't make sense as written.

In your third article, the first sentence contains a comma splice. Write "to make yourself" instead.

Definitely work on the wordiness, re-read and edit multiple times, and submit your articles for the editors to review. You've got a great start here! Good luck to you, and visit the forums often.

Thank you for your prompt and very helpful answer. I am working on the problems and will submit the articles once they are fixed.

I have tried submitting once, but my account was suspended on the first try. Is it possible to reactivate my account so I can try submitting again? I have already written a request to the support, but haven't received an answer yet.

Should I wait for an answer or try opening a new account? Is the same name, address and paypal account allowed to open two accounts?

Thank you for your help. Can't wait to get started!

You can't open two accounts with the same information, and if you open a new account with new information and they connect the two you'll be suspended again. Please don't do that.

Support will probably respond to your message soon but they have a backlog, so it could be a while. If you were suspended for plagiarism, your chances of getting back in are pretty small unless you can explain what happened. For instance, if you submitted an article here that was published elsewhere, even if you wrote it, the bylines between your C-C pen name and the other pen name need to match EXACTLY and obviously (not hidden somewhere away from the article).

We work among real humans who will check into things. C-C also has a zero, zero, zero tolerance policy for plagiarism. Look at the message they sent suspending your account and if it was an honest mistake like mismatched bylines, let them know.

Folks on the forum are writers who are happy to help if we can, but we're not editors or support people. Feel free to update us on your progress, and I wish you the best of luck here at C-C and in everything you do.
