Review taking forever...

Post by DerrickD »

A while back i posted 3 articles over the length of 3 days, two of the article in question were posted on the weekend, and the other posted on Monday. I'm pretty sure Constant-Content editorial staff only works Mon-Fri, it states the reviews take between 3-5 days. Yesterday was day 5, and again we are in a weekend. Should I expect the results of my reviews by next week? Does the editorial team work on weekends? If by chance they do work on weekends, they have been up for around 8, 7, and 6 days. I'm just concerned that there is a reason that they have not been reviewed. I do not mind waiting, I just want to be sure that there isn't something I may have done to cause a delay.

Lots of authors are concerned about the time elapse for reviews, Derrick. It's not just you. I've only had time for private requests just lately, and they go through fairly quickly. Perhaps there is a greater volume of those at the moment.

I've been writing for CC at random for around two years. In my experience it always takes at least a week for reviews to go through.
Just relax. You'll get that heart attack inducing email soon enough :D

I don't know this for a fact, but I have the sneaking suspicion that the editors are doing private requests which is tying up their time. Whenever I see under "articles recently sold" a lot of private ones, it seems I'm also having to wait longer on my reviews.

Private requests get priority review - than public requests - than spec articles. Makes sense because you want to serve the buyer who is waiting.

I'm new here, so I can't submit to private and public requests until five articles have been approved. About how long would it take to have those five first articles edited?

You can do public requests. You simply have to select the correct options in the general submission form. This is what I did for my first two articles.

It's been a week without review, so I have no idea on an ETA. It would depend partly on your submission speed, as well. Keep in mind that you'll only be able to submit 3 articles at first.

Message on Author page about a surge in submissions. So the site is working to reduce review times. In the mean time, keep writing and submitting because that is how you build a portfolio and a regular income. Many articles take time to sell so a little longer in review is not a big deal.
