Question regarding list indentation

Is there a specific format that CC wants us to use when doing lists? I can't find anything in the guidelines, but I've only seen list articles that are not numbered. What I mean is, can you submit an article in this format:
1) xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

2) xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Or does the text have to be to the left margin like this:

1) xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

2) xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

or doesn't it matter? I've been agonizing over this for days and haven't found the answer in the guidelines. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks

After looking at my post, the text went to the left margin both times. The first text should've been indented in from the number and the entire text blocked in that way. Sorry..

They don't have to be one way or the other. Just be consistent within an article.
