Samples for Writer Pools

When we submit samples for the various Writer Pools, are they supposed to be written just for that sample?
Can we use an article that we have accepted but not sold?
I assume the samples are supposed to be examples of the Writer Pool topic.

I used articles from my CC portfolio so I assume that's still ok.
