Long Summary length

Post by MelodyJCompere »

Hi-

Regarding the Long Summary, I was thinking about for future articles submitting longer than 1/3 of the text for public requests. I know that some writers must not have had any problems with thieves doing that, but I guess I'm still a little nervous.

The good is that maybe it will encourage a customer to make a buy because they can see more than 1/3 of the article.

Any thoughts?

I post my articles in their entirety. I might stop one day if I notice them being stolen, but so far that is what I do.

Something I have seen that I think is a pretty good idea is that some authors will post most of their article but cut off about half of each paragraph or so.

This gives the buyer an idea of what the whole article is about, but doesn't include absolutely everything. I think this is a great idea because if the buyer likes the writing styles and the ideas then they probably won't find much objectionable in this missing halves of paragraphs after they buy it.

Also I just realized that you were mentioning specifically for public requests. I think that for those you should just include the whole article in the summary, and then if it is not bought and moved to the general pool you can simply edit it and remove some parts.

I put the entire article in the long summary. I have had one article scraped (out of over 70 that I've submitted). It was a bad feeling, but luckily the buyer (who was the one who noticed the stolen content when he ran it through a copyright checker) sent me a private request for a rewrite of the same info. All's well that ends well.

I feel that - if I were a buyer - I would want to see the whole article before paying for it.
