List newest/newest reply posts first in Writers Form

It would be super helpful if the posts listed in the writers/authors forum were listed in reverse chronological order -- so the newest posts and posts with new activity appear at the top of the list rather than the bottom. If this isn't hard, I think you'd get a lot more folks' questions answered on the first search through the forums rather than having to re-moderate a new post. (Would be a big time-saver for us, also.)

They are. I think you're looking at stickies. This is just the default phpBB installation, and if I remember correctly, there is no way to change the order of posts.

Sorry, but I don't understand your answer Lysis. I'm not sure what "stickies" are, and I don't know PHP code. And, you may be answering a totally different question since I see I didn't spell "FORUM" correctly on my initial topic--I left out the critical "U". Duh-me.

What I see when I click on "Forum" is all of the topics, from the earliest posted to the latest. So I'm looking at stuff from 2008, and have to either scroll to the bottom of the page and resort the topics from the default "Ascending" to "Descending" or just click on page 4 (or whatever is the last number) and start browsing backward. Then once I click on a topic, the same thing: I have to resort from "Ascending" to "Descending" to see answers/posts from 2013 instead of 2008. If the defaults were simply switched to that from the beginning it'd probably save me and others from asking LOTS of stupid or duplicate questions.

I'm not sure why your account is defaulting to the "Ascending" view. I always see the posts as "Descending" and when I scroll to the bottom, that option is also defaulted.

As for the "stickies" that Lysis is referring to, these have a different icon (shaped like a light bulb) and will always remain at the top of the section of the forum they reside in.

That's really weird. I run a phpBB forum, so I am pretty familiar with the backend admin area. Not an expert, but good enough to set it up. lol

I'm assuming it must be a profile thing, because I know by default phpBB (the name of this forum software) will show reverse chronological by default.

AHA! Lysis and BHuff85, you've gotten me to the solution! I went into my user control panel, selected the Board Preferences tab, and changed the defaults from Ascending to Descending. Now everything new is showing at the top again (not counting the "stickies" which I now understand). Thanks for pointing me in the right direction you two!! (I'm also grinning because I just sold my first article--and got over $50 (my share) for it! Yay, I love Constant Content!) Thanks again for all your help and patience. Cheers!
