Is the Typical Price List Current?

Post by SRider »

Hello,

Is the price-sheet current? I want to price to sell, but I don't want to sell myself short either.

I've looked at it and yes, I would say it's current.

Hi. The price list looks current to me too. I often get the unique price range for a full-rights article, but not all buyers pay top dollar.

I would say most writers on here actually price a little under that list. I myself do about 0.9 center per word, before the cut, so for a 500 word article I would do $45, and compared to others I would say that is even a little high. But definitely don't sell yourself short. I find that people are willing to pay for the quality. I increased my prices a bit recently and it didn't impact my sales, and I will again as I get more .. "prolific" ;)

I look at writers who sell themselves short and I just KNOW they could be making more, even if it would cut their sales by even 10%! So charge what you think is fair and adjust accordingly! That list has good ballpark figures!

Oh, I'd also like to add that my usage rights are more than that list, as I charge half the full price, though I do usually accept lower offers if I get them (but not too low! :) )

It's funny I lowered my prices to see if I would make more sales. My thoughts were that if I doubled my sales but cut my price by 1/3, I'd be ahead. Did not help at all.

I don't think you could go crazy expensive, but I didn't find price was a factor in number of sales.

That so true, especially for me. Unless the price is crazy high, it doesn't seem to be a huge deterrent if that is what someone is looking for.

Most of the stuff in my catalog is so unique that it is usually the only article on that topic on the site (the things in the writer pool are challenge enough for me so I use the catalog to write what I LIKE :) ). So if someone is specifically looking for my topic, and if they think it is good, they will either buy or make an offer. I don't think they would pass up on it just because its a little more expensive. So I guess you might consider competitively pricing articles on more popular topics, but I don't, and they still sell.
