My understanding is that if I sell full rights and include my name – by Diana Rankin – at the top of one of my articles (between the title and text) the buyer is to give me a byline. I sold full rights for “8 Tips for a Good Night’s Sleep,” and found the article, without my byline in Kreol magazine as their lead story. I’m grateful they bought the article, but I sure would like the byline. Did I put the byline in the wrong place? Is there another way I am to show the buyer that a byline is required for full rights? Please advise. Thanks so much.

No, full rights allows them to remove the byline. Usage they have to keep it.

No. Full rights is exactly that: they have full rights to the whole article. If you want to keep your byline in there, sell it under Unique and Usage licenses. If the buyer buys it as unique, they get exclusive rights to publish the article and it is removed from the CC inventory, but they must keep your author byline intact and they can't edit the article. If they buy full rights, they can change, delete or add to it as they want.

Full rights means that the buyer owns the article outright and you no longer have any claim to it. It's as if the client wrote the article and you had nothing to do with it. In fact, it's very common for clients to post articles that they have bought with full rights under their own byline, stating that they are the author.
