Hello,
I've been here for awhile (despite what my forum info says-the ridiculous board software doesn't give any way to retrieve one's username and it's been ages since I posted here so I had to re-register) but haven't submitted anything in awhile and I see all these posts about Writers Pools but absolutely no info on how to join. It's like a secret club or something! I searched this whole site for a good hour. Could someone be kind enough to give me some info? Thanks so much and Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate!!

Re: Writers Pools?
Hallo, I agree it's confusing and mysterious. If you are in a pool then you have a chance to 'claim' requests that are put up in that pool, and once you have claimed an article, no-one else has access to the request. The customer could still reject your offering. but that seems to be unusual, so claimed articles are more or less money in the bank if they are delivered on time.
When I joined, I gathered that there were rules about the percentage of articles accepted without revision that led to an invitation to join a pool.
It seems that's not the case any more though it may have been once, and that CC will invite people to join various pools solely on the basis of current demand for various types of article and how your work fits into that.
I do think it would be good if CC could provide information and updates about the writers pool side of the site, because people do need to know how it works. I hope that they are going to do that.

Re: Writers Pools?
It sort of is! I joined CC a very long time ago but was never very active until may of this past year. I had read quite a lot about writer pools and one time, like, a very long time ago, even accidentally was able to apply to one. By clicking a link provided on this forum somewhere, I was able to circumnavigate the site's restrictions on my seeing the application. Nevertheless, it didn't work because a year later I was still barely active and still not accepted. So I told myself to just sit down, work as hard as I could, and see if it got me anywhere. Then in early July I was added to the writer's pool!SueC wrote:It's like a secret club or something!
So even if you can't find anything clear cut about what exactly they are and how to join them, if you really want to be a part of it then I suggest just showing them you can write a lot, write well, and be either diverse/write on some popular topics, then you should be accepted in!
Re: Writers Pools?
It's still a bit of a mystery to me too, and I'm in some! I discovered I had 'approved for . . . . ' on my profile, and I've had a few emails asking if I'd like to join x or y, but still not sure whether what I'm 'approved for' are the actual writer pools or whether I'm being asked for specific jobs/pools. Who knows!
Edited to add - it's certainly worth it though, I'm doing approx 1 writer pool article a day at the moment and they get purchased within 24 hours in my experience, if only I had the time to do more
