Names of websites in articles

Post by 4rumid »

Hi,

Just want to be absolutely sure I understand this rule: I know it's not ok to include links to websites in our articles, but the rule also seems to be that you can't put "web addresses" either. I'm not sure what counts as the web address.

My question is: Can I name websites in an article? I'm writing an article that has to do with internet shopping, so it would be helpful to be able to give examples of certain kinds of websites. So, for example, can I refer to "Amazon.com" or just "Amazon" as long as I don't give the complete address (http://www . . . and all that)? Or is any reference to websites verboten?

Thanks!

As long as it isn't spammy, you can use a link like this:

mywebsite.com

You want to use them sparingly, but sometimes they are necessary.
