Change on Web Addresses?

Hey Ed,

Thanks for the note about giving my piece more review, about fighting consumerism. However, one part of the "needs more review" message included "we do not accept hyperlinks..." Ofcourse I know that, but it was in my sources section. I made sure it was not a hyperlink, by placing <> around it, so it is not clickable in the .doc file and will not magically turn into a hyperlink in html. It is how I have sourced articles on websites on many articles in the past. In the body, I cited the article with the website name because it is a news organization and the title.

Are there new guidelines for citing websites in sources? Do I just take out the http:// (which I agree is appropriate for the body, but the sources sections is supposed to be accurate enough for someone to follow up on your research, I don't know omitting the beginning is smart because there are different prefixes)

Hi EAW,

Our guidelines have always been the following (wording has varied):

No Active linked web addresses - Please follow our protocol if you must include web addresses by removing the http://www prefix. Ex: Google.com (good), www.google.com (bad)

I understand your concern about different prefixes, but please follow our guidelines as they currently stand.
