Affiliate ethics

Post by 4rumid »

I recently spotted an ad on craigslist posted by a CC "author" (with no articles) looking for affiliates. I don't see anything wrong with that, per se, but the ad is worded as if it's being posted by Constant-Content itself -- with sentences like "We are looking for writers. . . ." It's deliberately misleading, and I wonder if CC takes exception to being represented that way. Is this something to drop support a note about, or is it not important?

Yeah, maybe support should take a look.

I've seen a lot of questionable CC affiliate links on Twitter, too. Not so much sounding like the tweet is from CC but I remember one guy saying stuff like "sell your stories, books, and poems at CC" and then posting his affiliate link. When you check out the person's profile, there are NO articles accepted and his information is plain wrong. Why should someone who doesn't know the system be allowed to promote it and potentially profit from it?
