Requested Edit to Article by Client, Advice Much Appreciated

Post by jkllewthor »

Hi Everyone,

Having submitted and had an article for a public request approved (yay!) I woke up this morning to find an Email requesting me to weave in some extra information i.e a product related insert to the article.

I'm relatively new to CC, and my question is how to do this in the most efficicent way? Should I simply do the rewrite and submit to the public request? Or should I leave some kind of note in the summary for the Editors, explaining that it is a partial rewrite of the same article, as requested? Or an 'Edit' note in the title?

As this customer has bought an aritcle from me before, I'm reasonably confident that this rewrite will not prove to be a waste of time.

Thanks for your time,

JK LLewthor

First, delete the accepted article (so you won't have two versions). Then add the information as requested. When you resubmit the article, attach it to the public request as before. This time, put a note to Ed that says, "Previously approved. Additional information added per client request - see third paragraph." That way, Ed doesn't have to read the entire article again, just the section that is new.

Ok cool - Thanks.

Do I put the note to Ed in the summary?

You should include a note to Ed when:

1. You have resubmitted a previously accepted article with changes. Include a brief description of the changes you have made.

2. When a customer likes your piece but wants you to do something crazy, like add embedded links. In this case, it is preferable to have the customer submit a private request to you so that we are clear just what the customer has asked you to do and that he has asked you to do it.

Celeste is right. Constant is wrong.

Thanks a lot,
Ed
