Hello from Vancouver Island!

Hi Y'all from the ocean's edge on Vancouver Island, BC. MermaidOnTheRun here, getting my feet wet (or should I say tail?) here on the CC forums. I just joined your ranks this morning, and am absolutely thrilled to find your forums section. CC is EXACTLY what I have been yearning for; a writing home of my own where I can give in to the creative writings that bubble from within me, combined with a community of supportive fellow writers. Thank you for all of your previous words of wisdom on these forums. You truly, truly do inspire those of us who until now have not had the courage to follow our dreams and dive into the waters of freelance writing. Thank you for being here; please don't ever stop inspiring other writers.

P.S. Anyone here ever earn a living (or even just get paid) to blog? Care to share your successes/failures?

I don't earn a full time living blogging but it is a nice source of passive income for me. Could do more but my other businesses take most of my time.

Jadedragon: Thank you for your reply. Can I ask, do you have your own blog that you write for, or do you manage to earn your "passive" income from selling blog posts here on CC? Thank you in advance for your reply.

I just spent the last 4 days on Vancouver Island - the weather was spectacular!

Sure I have my own blog (linked from the little world--->) and accounts on various Web 2.0 sites that earn me Adsense, Chitika, affiliate commissions etc. I then interlink all my work to increase the visibility and income. My blog actually covers these various strategies to earn money blogging/writing online.

CC is not truly passive income since you need to keep producing articles. However it is passive in the sense that once you submit an article CC takes care of all the rest. You just wait for the cash to hit your paypal account.

Also there are strategies to turn part of your work here into passive income. I would not recommend trying to sell existing blog posts at CC. Rather flip it around - write original content for CC and when some sells for usage rights, take that work and repurpose it for passive income. This post and one by Master Dayton (another CC author) it links too lay out that strategy in some detail. http://www.innovativepassiveincome.com/ ... d-studios/ His suggestions for DS rejects can be applied to work you might do that does not fit CC well (1st person POV, opinion).
