I really should have posted in here sooner, but here goes...
My name's Kate, I'm 24 and from the south coast of England. I've been selling my writing since I was fifteen when a website asked to purchace a short fictional piece which I had written as GCSE coursework. Once I discovered how much I enjoyed writing for an audience, and began distributing work to respectable publications as well as websites, I knew it was something I would always feel incomplete without.
I'm untrained and uneducated due to illness through childhood and adolescence, and continued struggles with the aftermath of the whole affair mean that I am unable to work full time. My writing helps maintain my self-worth and sense of achievement, which I believe has been key to staving off depression throughout some of the challenges I have faced in the last few years. I dabble in jewellery design and gemmology as well as freelance writing for magazines, poetry anthologies, medical journals and as a guest writer on websites and blogs.
I hope that submitting to CC will increase my motivation to write during commercial down-times, as having some purpose to the work helps me focus, and freelance work is proving more and more difficult to find. I'm excited to have joined this community and hope that I can raise my game enough to find a place amongst you.
