Pleasantly surprised by the quality of edits

I got my start as a print author. I've written five books, some articles for magazines, and a few TV scripts. As work from clients who actually paid their bills dried up, I started writing articles in massive quantities, maybe 5,000 in the last four years.

I did a few articles for Constant Content in 2009 and only decided in the past week to write more with a fill-in-a-niche strategy. I was overly enthusiastic with this new venture. I sent in articles without letting them "rest." Today Edit sent back three of my articles back, with good reason. They are right. My writing needed considerable refinement.

It's just a pleasure to find a publisher, online or otherwise, who actually cares about the quality of work. When you are getting paid $1 a word to write a book, you can lavish attention on your writing. Your developmental editor and your copy editor can lavish attention on your work. When you and your publisher share at most $0.10 a word, edit takes a real commitment to quality. (Constant Content's share of revenues, by the way, is vastly less than a print publisher's, but that is a topic for another area of this forum.)

Since about 2007, however, the only editorial comments I've received have been on the lines of "START PARAGRAPH IN ALL CAPS!!!!! USE MORE EXCLAMATION POINTS!!!!! TELL THE READER OUR PRODUCT IS THE BEST!!!!!!!"

Seriously, that is a summary of the only edit I've had in several years. I appreciate Constant Content's attention to quality, and the opportunity to be a real writer again. Editors, thank you! (One exclamation point, no added caps.)

I have to agree with you here.I am new and have had one article accepted and two being reviewed for inconsistent paragraph spacing which I hope to get sorted with the assistance of the editors.I was very impressed with the high standard of edits I received so far.
It is such a pleasant change to deal with professionals as my previous online experience has been with the aggressive marketing stuff you referred to in your post.
I am glad I stumbled upon constant content in my search for online opportunities and I intend to invest my time here exclusively rather than elsewhere.
