What is a 'standard margin'?

What is a 'standard margin'?

Hi there, I couldn't see any reference in the guidelines as to what constituted a 'standard margin'.

Also, am I allowed to submit a Word file or must they only be text files? I'm not entirely sure that I have control over margin size in my Mac's Text Editor.
