capitalization of seasons

Post by evaku »

Hi there, I have a small question about when to capitalize the names of the seasons. For example, in the sentence:

"... on ABC's Fall 2011 lineup."

I assume "Fall" would be capitalized, much as it is when in school I refer to the "Fall" or "Winter" Semester, because they are titles.

Does anyone think differently?

Thanks!

Typically, I don't believe seasons are capitalized unless it's part of a formal noun (IE: The Spring Ball or the Winter Olympics). Some cases could go either way. I think this article does a good job of explaining it in the last section: http://grammar.quickanddirtytips.com/ca ... asons.aspx

Thanks SJHillman! Makes sense. I looked at that article but I still felt a little confused so I thought I'd ask on here!

Thanks again!
